Do you live above ground and don’t have access to a garden?
You could build a Co-Coop between yours and your neighbours balconies to share the responsibilities, produce and general enjoyment of keeping chickens. [and if you do not have any private, outdoor space, you can always set up a Community Co-Coop].
This original Co-Coop scheme is aimed at extending the space available for chicken keeping in the city, while promoting a stronger sense of community.
Apart from signing a Chickens Shared Ownership Agreement prior to setting up the Co-Coop, we recommend you attend a Co-Coop Building workshop.
Balcony Co-Coops tend to be more complicated and require heavier site-specific engineering, so it is important first to make sure your building/ Balconies can withstand the added structure.
Once your Co-Coop is up and running, you can download a sample Rota & Flock Record for keeping things in order here.
You might also want to attend the Co-Coop Keeping workshop to learn more about daily practicalities and making the most of collaborative chicken keeping.
